Solid Modeling Technology
Here you going to see modeling technology used in Solidworks. Do you know CAD software? CAD or computer aided drawing is software, which helps to draw anything in your computer with the aid of programs. Like the same Solidworks (read wiki) contains computer program which helps to draw sketch in the graphics interface is “Parametric approach”. If you know the parameters (e.g. length of a product) or have an idea about it, just enter it and create models and assemblies with ease. There are two types of parameter, numeric as well as geometric.
Numeric parameters are normally numbers. For example, if you the radius of circle, you can directly draw circle in the graphics area and enter the radius value. The sketch part contains only 2D creations. The every drawing supports the international standards of ANSI, ISO, DIN, , JIS, BSI or SAC and you must select which standard as you follow to design your product. It also contains direct 3D solid creation or elimination by using various features like extrude boss/base, Revolve Boss/Base, Loft Boss/Base, Sweep Boss/Base, Boundary Boss/Base, Extrude cut, Revolved cut, Sweep cut , Loft Cut ,Boundary Cut, Fillet, Chamfer, Simple Hole, Hole Wizard, Rib, Shell, Draft, Reference Plane, Linear Pattern , Circular Pattern, Mirror , Helix and Spiral Curves , Curves SplitLines, Engrave Text, Emboss Text, Sheetmetal Hem, SolidWorks Assembly, Loft Boss Guide curves, SheetMetal etc.
You can also see the sketch tools used in Solid Works CAD Software are Line, Circle, Rectangle, Polygon, Arc, Slot, Ellipse, SmartDimension, Parabola, Sketch Fillet, Sketch Chamfer, Sketch Trim Entities, Linear Sketch Pattern, Circular Sketch Pattern , spline curve etc. You will see later every features and sketches tools in detailed manner in SolidWorks Tutorials.

hi , i have 0 knowlage about all this , but regullary hearing about solid works and 3 d model of a part and etc ..
i want to know , below ….
can you used solidworks directlly to draw some thing ? or 1st you have to draw it on a paper with the size disiered ?
once you have created the model in solid works then what the next step for manufacturing the same in big quantities in a production line / factory ?
Suppose if i have a solidWORKS file of a piston and want a factory to manufacture it so how is this done ??
sorry for bad english .
Hi willy, nice questions. Answers are given below from my best knowledge:
1. You can draw what ever you really want to design; needs some skills and engg graphics knowledge too.
2. If you have idea about the dimensions of your design, no need to draw it on a paper.
3. Yes. you can manufacture your product, one you designed and tested it. Engg analysis are important to check the design is correct or not. If results are get as per your expectations, you can move to next step (i.e, manufacturing).
4. for the 4th question, contact me via, this blog contact form or message me in facebook page.
