Do you know how to use parabola sketching tool in Solidworks? This tutorial shows the how to draw parabola in SolidWorks sketch interface. Parabola is a curve having a directrix and focus, in which all the points on the parabolic curve are equaled distant from it. How to draw Parabola using Parabola sketching Tool
Parabola sketch tool is located under the Ellipse To0l down menu in command manager or you can see in the tools menu under sketch entities. Let us see how to use in the SolidWorks for sketching.
Open the Solidworks and New part File. If you don’t know it, read How to Create New Part File. Select the Plane (e.g. Top Plane) and normalize using the “Normal To” Button. Read Heads-up toolbar on this blog.
Using Command Manager
From the command manger, click the Ellipse tool side down arrow and select the 3rd item “Parabola” by clicking on it.
Click on the “Tools” menu and select the “Sketch Entities” from the drop down menu. Then side drop down menu will appear and select the “Parabola” from it which shows in the above image.
First you need to select the focus of the parabola which is marked as “Point 1”
Then select the Vertex of the parabola which is “Point 2” marked in the above image.
After drawing focus and vertex, set the two end points of the parabola which marked as point 3 for the first point.
Point 4 is the second end point and this way you can complete the Parabola sketching in SolidWorks.
